The Enchanted House

Playing Is Learning:
Play is an important aspect of our Enchanted Mornings, Mother Goose and Little Explorers classes.

At the Enchanted House we like to give children the opportunity to familiarize themselves with the English language and at the same time to offer a wide variety of experiences to the child. Play is an important aspect of our Enchanted Mornings, Mother Goose group and Little Explorers classes. Play is not only fun and relaxing, but it is the child's way to learn. With a wide variety of play materials children can develop many skills during the moments of free time of each class or when participating in a guided play activity.
Our Little House: Children can play "restaurant"(we have an Enchanted Menu), "shop" or do the household chores (laundry, cooking, washing dishes, taking care of the baby, exercising the dog etc.). Pretend play encourages cooperation and collaboration, language skills and imagination.
Our Block Area: Children develop various skills while working with blocks (we have 4 types of blocks to build with).
Math skills: are developed when counting, comparing length and width, naming the different shapes, combining some geometric shapes to make other shapes, understanding the basics of addition when discovering that two short blocks can make the same length as one long block.

Science skills: are developed when they experience gravity as their constructions fall, and they learn the use of simple machines such as ramps through their building.
Language skills and vocabulary as they talk about what they are creating and discuss their experiences that they are representing with the blocks. Children develop an understanding of geography as they create maps with the blocks.
Social skills: Children learn to cooperate and share when they work together with the blocks. They develop problem-solving skills and learn good work habits when they help to clean up when class is finished.
Balance: When climbing, jumping and walking on our Tumbling Animals children learn to balance their body.
Montessori materials: Our Montessori materials encourage math skills and sensory awareness.

Water Play: Children develop science skills when they learn to understand machines like pulleys and funnels, when they problem solve how to make the water flow through the different hoses, experiencing sinking and floating and measuring a certain amount of water in a bucket. Science and creative pretend play come together when the baby is washed in the bath and gets a shower by letting the water flow from the water table to the bath using our funnel and long hose.

Dressing up corner: Use your imagination when dressing up like a fireman, a doctor, a vet, a nurse, a fairy, a fancy lady, a princess, a waiter or whatever you can think of and act out a story. Foamy Wall: Feel the sensation of painting with your hands, discover new colors while mixing the paint or learn to spell English words on our Foamy wall.
